The festival is the initiative of Game of Education, a company that is engaged in the development of content and technology for games and educational material on the Minecraft platform.  The festival will be held for the first time in Israel at Jerusalem’s Bloomfield Science Museum and is entitled Minecraft, Building and Creativity.  Partners with Game of Education for the festival are the Jerusalem Bloomfield Science Museum and the Jerusalem Development Authority; and the Game for Peace and PICO Kids Organizations have been enlisted to provide content for the festival.
During the two-day Shavuot holiday, children and their parents, teenagers, adults and the entire family are invited to come take part in the dozens of activities, including game stations, competitions, meetups with the creators of Minecraft and YouTubers, a Minecraft costume contest, 3D printing, a photography zone, arts and crafts workshops and many activities that combine games, creativity, design, technology and education.
As is traditional at MINECRAFT festivals, guests are invited come dressed in costume and participate in a cool costume contest with prizes for the winners.
At the festival, the unique Minecraft for Education program will be launched by Microsoft Israel.  At the event, a special zone will be dedicated to a unique learning experience with educational content, such as English, social studies, anatomy, botany, mathematics, chemistry, code, and story writing, which has been implemented by Game of Education at a number of educational institutions nationwide.
Minecraft is the most popular computer game among children and teenagers, boys and girls and is unique in its ability to connect children and teens around the world, regardless of their language, gender or location.   It is also considered an educational game that promotes creativity, learning and positive goals.
Minecraft has wide exposure in western countries, with 100 million registered players, 60 million of them are active every month.
In Israel, there are hundreds of thousands of registered players.
According to Vic Boaron, CEO of Game of Education and the event organizer: “We are excited about Israel’s first Minecraft Festival and hope it will become an annual tradition.  We have selected Jerusalem’s Science Museum, because there is no better place to host this kind of festival.  We invite everyone, even those who are not familiar with the game, to come and take part in the festival’s activities during the upcoming Shavuot holiday.  The festival will offer a playful and educational experience to its participants, based on the values that we, as Minecraft representatives promote in Israel, and which are promoted worldwide.”
